Laura I Sanchez
Laura Iris Sanchez, M.Ed. is a doctoral student in Language and Literacy Studies at The University of Texas at Austin. Her research examines early literacy development within Montessori environments, with particular attention to how literacy practices are enacted through sociocultural, culturally sustaining, and raciolinguistic perspectives. She is especially interested in the intersections between classroom literacy practices and multilingual families home literacy environments, including homeschool connections and childrens linguistic and cultural resources.
Drawing on her background in teacher education, Laura mentors preservice teachers in reading and writing instruction, emphasizing pedagogies that honor students identities, languages, and community knowledge. Her work bridges scholarship and practice through research on Montessori literacy pedagogy, multilingual learners, and culturally responsive literacy instruction.
