Dr. Savneet Bains is a Graduate Research Assistant in The Department of Educational Leadership and Policy in the College of Education at The University of Texas at Austin. She recently earned her Ph.D. in Higher Education Leadership and Policy from UT Austin, where she was awarded the Dr. Bill Lasher Doctoral Student Excellence Award. Her research explores the lived experiences of South Asian women leaders, with a focus on navigating barriers and harnessing cultural capital to forge new pathways.
At UT Austin, Dr. Bains served as an Instructor of Record in the Department of Rhetoric and Writing and held Graduate Assistant positions in Residence Life and International Student and Scholar Services. Prior to joining the UT Austin community in 2021, she worked across diverse sectors in Indiaincluding banking, aviation finance, project and people management, research, and data analysis. She co-led the Career Guidance Centre at Shiv Nadar School, served as a corporate finance specialist with British Airways, and held the role of Senior Operations Manager at ICICI Bank.
Dr. Bains holds an M.B.A. in Finance and Marketing, a Bachelor of Commerce, and a certification in Global Career Counseling. A relationship driven and result oriented scholar practitioner, Dr. Bains is passionate about lifelong learning and inclusive leadership. She served as the Graduate Student Representative on the NASPA Region III Advisory Board and has presented her work at multiple regional and national conferences.
