Sonia Loskot was appointed as principal of David G. Burnet Elementary in Dallas ISD in 2014 after serving in many capacities since 2002. In 2015-17, Loskot and her team were accepted into Teaching Trust Executive Ed. Program leading robust systems on cultural, instructional, data-driven, and team effectiveness and 2016-18 Principal Impact Collaborative implementing Human Center Design Process. She is a Cahn Fellow Alumni for Distinguished Principals at Columbia University, where in 2019-20 she conducted action research on trauma and equity. The school has been a recipient of OutTeach Garden, Leader in Me School Lighthouse Status, STEM, and Children’s Health School-Based Telehealth Program. In 2018 and 2019 her school was awarded Gold Ribbon status in North Texas. Loskot grew up in Belize and is trilingual. She received her BBA from Valdosta State University in Georgia and MEDL from Texas Woman’s University. She was awarded 2017 Principal of the Year Feeder Patter Winner, 2019 Principal of the Year Finalist, and 2018 and 2019 Master Principal in Dallas ISD. Serving on advisory teams, education boards, and task forces in partnership organizations, Loskot strives for the whole child and to empower everyone through social and emotional concentration that supports an equitable well-rounded education.
