Welcome to the College of Education at The University of Texas at Austin. Founded in 1891, we are proud to be consistently ranked among the top-ten programs in the country by U.S. News & World Report. Our college is recreating the landscape of education by developing leaders who will transform our diverse society and empower tomorrow's citizens to be lifelong learners.
How do we prepare our students for a dynamic world that is ever-changing?
We give each of our graduate and undergraduate students the tools of critical evaluation and the value of lifelong learning. Faculty members help our students adapt to change and use these tools to grow.
Our faculty anticipate, adapt to, and create change by learning through their research—published in the top national and international education journals—that influences the intellectual thought and practice in education and public health.
We value academic research in all five of our nationally ranked departments: Curriculum and Instruction, Educational Leadership and Policy, Educational Psychology, Kinesiology and Health Education, and Special Education. For six consecutive years, the college has been ranked number one nationally in research expenditures, by U.S. News & World Report. Our research expenditures average $57 million a year.
Our centers, institutes, and programs are internationally influential research powerhouses, and they’re helping us lead the way in the development of innovative approaches to complex issues.
Graduate and undergraduate students learn from the best. Our evidence-based and hands-on programs prepare education and health professionals to bring vision and leadership to teaching and learning. Partnerships with leading research centers and community practitioners prepare students for successful careers as teachers, physical therapists, coaches, professors, and researchers.
Approximately 850 undergraduate and 370 graduate students matriculate annually. Graduates of the College of Education exceed employer expectations with the level of experience they bring to the workforce. Our alumni represent a vast network of real-world change makers.
