Office of the Dean

Dean’s Message

I’m honored to welcome you to the College of Education at The University of Texas at Austin. Founded in 1891, the college has a strong legacy of preparing leaders to make a lasting impact in education, health and sport.

As one of the nation’s top-ranked schools of education, we are home to world-class faculty and researchers who advance educational opportunity, innovation, and health and well-being in schools and communities across Texas and beyond.

The college continues to strengthen and expand its academic programs. Today we serve more than 3,500 undergraduate and graduate students, supported by nearly 300 faculty members, talented staff and an extensive network of external partners. Our students enrich our academic community and fuel our mission to serve Texas and the nation. Students in the college come from major metropolitan areas, smaller cities, rural regions and border communities throughout Texas, as well as from other states and countries.

At UT Austin, the state’s leading research university and a member of the Association of American Universities, our college is part of an institution with approximately $1.3 billion in annual research expenditures and a total enrollment exceeding 55,000 students. The campus is situated in one of the nation’s most dynamic and fastest-growing cities. Texas is also an important environment for studying education and health outcomes, having experienced substantial economic and population growth in recent years.

The College of Education is a place of tremendous possibility, and we are committed to supporting you in achieving your academic and professional goals. I encourage you to reach out whenever you need support. Whether you have questions, concerns or ideas you’d like to discuss, my door is always open.
