UTeach Urban Teacher Selected As 2017-2018 Cooperating Teacher Fellow

The Social Studies UTeach Urban Teacher program has selected Serena McMillon as the 2017-2018 Cooperating Teacher Fellow. A teacher at Travis High School in Austin Independent School District, Ms. McMillon has served as an expemplar for the UT UT Teacher Education Program. Her teaching in the social studies has served to model the importance of an inclusive history and pedgogies that are culturally and linguistically relevant to the diverse citizenry of our public schools.

Also named as UTeach Urban Teacher Teaching Fellows were undergraduate student McKenzie Leigh Poynter and graduate student Alexandra Thrall. Both McKenzie and Allie represent a dynamic future in the social studies where we can reimagine democracy and citizenship education. All UTeach Urban Teacher Fellows reflect exceptional commitments and abilities in the field of social studies education. We are honored to host these awards through the kindness and support of alumnus Marilyn White.
