At a recent Austin ISD school board meeting, the alarming trend in teacher retention rates at Texas Title I schools was a key topic. From fall 2021-2022, the projected number of teachers that will have left the profession is significant and follows a similar pattern throughout the county.
Dean Martinez shared findings from the Texas Educator Preparation Pathways Study commissioned by the College of Education in partnership with Educate Texas, which highlights some of the reasons for the retention issues, as well as some of the effects this trend could have on learning outcomes for students.
