The University of Texas at Austin’s College of Education graduate programs are consistently ranked among the highest in the country, and this year is no different. We have maintained our strong position at No. 4 among public institutions and No. 6 for best education school overall in the new 2026 U.S. News & World Report graduate school rankings.
These rankings are a powerful reflection of the College of Education’s impact and our ongoing commitment to reimagining education and health,
said Dean Charles Martinez. They speak to the excellence of our faculty and the meaningful work our graduates are doing to change the world. They affirm that we are on the right path, while challenging us to continue delivering on that vision.
Seven of the college’s eight graduate programs in education are now ranked among the top 10 in the nation. Special Education soared to the No. 4 spot, and Curriculum and Instruction climbed four spots to No. 6, reflecting our upward momentum and strong leadership across key academic areas.
This recognition affirms the College of Education’s leadership and unique position to drive meaningful change — from our steadfast commitment to education and health to the exceptional work of our faculty and world-renowned research,
said Alex Loukas, associate dean for Research and Graduate Studies. We remain dedicated to preparing the next generation of educators and practitioners to meet the evolving needs of students, families, schools and communities.
High rankings help attract the most outstanding students, faculty and world-class researchers, elevating the college’s prominence among leading graduate institutions.
Our students know they are being prepared to make a real difference in people’s lives,
Martinez said. The rankings send a clear message to our University community and beyond: this work matters. Serving others matters and will always be at the heart of what we do.
