KHE Work-Study Student Premieres Apparel at UT Fashion Show

The Department of Kinesiology and Health Education would like to thank their work-study student Hailey Sellars for assisting the department for four years. Hailey is a senior textiles and apparel major and will be interning in the fashion industry in New York this summer.

As a work-study student, Hailey has been a tremendous help to the department. Over the years, she has assisted faculty and staff with whatever was needed to make their jobs easier.

Executive assistant Patty Coffman says “Hailey joined the department in the fall of 2013 to help around the office, run errands, make copies, etc.  It didn’t take long for us to realize that Hailey had so much more to offer our department.  Hailey has completed a variety of tasks, some very complex, for the staff and faculty with accuracy, efficiency, professionalism, and a great attitude.  Hailey is more than a student worker, she is a valuable member of our department and we’ve all benefited for having her on our team.  We are going to miss her dearly when she graduates.  Congratulations Hailey!”

“Hailey was this quiet, unassuming student that I’d see and interact with occasionally in our departmental administrative offices. Then I needed help on a few projects and was directed to Hailey. I quickly found out that this quiet, unassuming student was super talented, super efficient, and a delight to work with. What a blessing she has been to me and to our department,” says Phil Stanforth, senior lecturerer and executive director of the FIT Center.

As a textile and apparel student, Hailey had the opportunity to design and showcase an activewear outfit, an evening or bridal outfit, and a three-piece collection at UT’s annual Fashion Show. “The thing I was most excited for was just to see everything come together. Seeing something that was once just an idea in your head come to life is a really great feeling,” says Hailey. See two of Hailey’s pieces below.
