Vaughn Gross has been named the first “Educator Icon” by The Meadows Center. She is the namesake of the Vaughn Gross Center for Reading and Language Arts in the College of Education. A longtime special education teacher and former elementary school principal, she continues to support education through fundraising, philanthropy and mentorship.
Sarah Woulfin is a co-author of “Making Coaching Matter: Leading Continuous Improvement in Schools,” which was featured in School Administrator magazine. In her work, she investigates pressing issues of district and school reform, including how to strengthen instructional coaching.
GEAR UP | COE has been selected to receive two new 7-year awards totaling over $50M through the Institute for Public School Initiatives. The awards from the U.S. Department of Education will provide more funding to GEAR UP (Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs) and increase the number of students who are academically, financially and socially prepared for the workforce and higher education.
