Kimberly Beckwith • Assistant Professor of Instruction

Department of Kinesiology and Health Education Assistant Professor of Instruction Kimberly Beckwith has been inducted into the Recreational Sports Hall of Honor for her contributions as one of the inaugural Recreational Sports Center Building Coordinators as a student at UT Austin. This group of dedicated student employees supervised the center in its early years where they were responsible for setting operational standards and fostering a welcoming environment.  

Department of Educational Leadership and Policy 

Joshua Childs • Associate Professor 

Department of Educational Leadership and Policy Associate Professor Joshua Childs released The State of Coaching, a national and statewide report on high school coaches. With the assistance of two of his doctoral students, Jacob Navarrete and Brooke Fousek, Childs led the data analysis and generated findings for the report. Childs is an education policy researcher who focuses on school attendance, student engagement and the role of extracurricular activities in improving academic achievement and opportunities.  

Ryan Miller • Ph.D. ’15, Educational Administration

College of Education alumnus Ryan Miller has received the Mid-Career Award from the Association for the Study of Higher Education (ASHE). The awards recognize exemplary achievements and contributions to the study of higher education through research, leadership or service. Miller’s scholarship investigates the experiences of minoritized students and the institutionalization of diversity and equity initiatives. He is recognized for his pioneering research on disabled LGBTQ+ students and for applying intersectional approaches to higher education policy and practice.  

Miller is currently a professor of Higher Education at the College of Education, Health, and Human Services at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. 

Department of Special Education  

Peng Peng • Associate Professor

Department of Special Education Associate Professor Peng Peng has been appointed incoming Associate Editor of Psychological Bulletin, a publication by the American Psychological Association. The bulletin is recognized globally as a journal of record for its specialized focus on publishing major quantitative reviews (meta-analyses) and comprehensive theoretical articles. The journal has a recent Impact Factor of 19.8 and a 5-Year Impact Factor of approximately 28.5, placing it in the Top 3 of the Psychology, Multidisciplinary category and the top few percentiles of all psychological journals.
