COE Administrative Units
The administrative units support the essential functions of the College of Education including business services, development, student affairs, facilities, IT, marketing, research support, bilingual education and more. Each team advances the mission of the college through dedication and collaboration.
Business Services, which houses the Finance Team and Human Resources Team, manages daily finance and operations of all of the Dean’s Office units and centers and acts as the chief liaison between the college and other university central offices. The teams are responsible for coordinating business processes; managing fiscal responsibilities; providing HR services to faculty, staff and students; and managing compliance and reporting.
The Data, Assessment and Translational Research Office (DATA) supports students, faculty and staff in making data-informed decisions to advance the College of Education’s mission through improved teaching, learning and the well-being of the entire community. Through comprehensive research and analysis, DATA is skilled at providing equitable resources and opportunities to help facilitate professional development and academic excellence.
Development and Alumni Relations serves and collaborates with the extended college family of alumni, friends, parents and corporate partners to advance the research and initiatives across the College of Education. The team works directly with generous donors to design gifts that best support faculty and students in their research, teaching and learning while adhering to the college’s mission.
Education Services supports students pursuing teaching careers by providing comprehensive classroom experience and teacher preparation programs through Field Experiences and coordinating educator certification within the state through the Certification Office and the Texas Education Agency (TEA). From elementary school to special education, Education Services is here to help future teachers navigate the academic experience.
Facilities Services is charged with managing the general operations for common areas and addressing other needs for faculty, students and staff, such as questions concerning operations and building security within the George I. Sánchez building. Facilities Services also supports Testing & Evaluation Services (TES), which provides professional academic testing.
The Information Technology Office (ITO) supports students, faculty and staff by providing data networking services and digital media equipment. IT also manages reservations for technology classrooms, conference rooms and more while supplying necessary services ranging from tech support to equipment checkout.
Marketing and Communications reinforces and advances the mission, vision and values of the Dean and the college through detailed messaging, integrated marketing, media, branding and public relations, as well as the College of Education website. The team collaborates with all COE stakeholders to create and promote dynamic web content, design, articles, events and other communications that boost recruiting and fundraising efforts for the college.
The Office of Bilingual Education (OBE) focuses on improving the quality of educational services provided to emergent bilinguals and multilingual learners through generating financial support to increase qualified personnel in bilingual education, SEL and bilingual special education teachers. OBE also helps secure external support for related programs and services and assists faculty in developing proposals for projects.
The Office of Educational Research Support provides two distinct types of research support and services to interested students and faculty. The Statistics, Measurement and Research Design Techniques in Educational Research (SMARTER) consulting office provides support for research design and quantitative analysis while the College of Education Research Administration (COERA) manages research proposals and award administration.
The Office of Instructional Innovation (OI2) works with faculty and instructors to develop robust education experiences through the use of technologies and instructional design. The team also assists faculty members by providing training on social and experiential learning and other educational services such as teaching techniques, learning tools, curriculum design and technology workshops.
The Office of Student Affairs helps students succeed and achieve their goals through award-winning academic advisers, coursework guidance, career engagement, financial aid, scholarships and more. The team is also here to help students map out their career pathways, meet with recruiters and potential employers, and apply learning and leadership skills to practice.
The Office of Student Success and Recruitment is dedicated to helping students achieve academic success by providing strong mentorship opportunities, various student workshops and academic support programs, and access to fundamental resources. The team’s goal is to help all students reach their full potential.
Texas Education Career Engagement connects local, national and global employers and recruiters with future leaders in education and health at the College of Education. Career Engagement provides our undergraduate students and recent alumni with resources and opportunities for career networking and preparation.
