Dixie Stanforth has been selected to hold a 2020-21 Dads’ Association Centennial Teaching Fellowship for the spring semester. Stanforth received this recognition because of her commitment to excellence in undergraduate education. She’s an associate professor of instruction in the Department of Kinesiology and Health Education.
“Words fail to express my joy and gratitude upon learning I was selected for this fellowship,” Stanforth says. “To be recognized for my teaching of undergraduates, which has been my professional passion, truly makes my heart sing…and I am grateful to my many students for teaching me, extending grace to me, and joining me on this grand adventure. It has been such an honor and privilege to be a part of their lives; I am humbled and delighted at the same time.”
John Bartholomew, chair of the Department of Kinesiology and Health Education, says, “I am so pleased that Dr. Stanforth has been recognized with this award. Dixie plays a critical role in connecting with first-year students and providing the foundation for a number of other courses in our major. The scope of this impact is felt at graduation when the students consistently cite Dixie as one of the most important teachers.”
The University of Texas System Board of Regents established the Dads’ Association Centennial Teaching Fellowships in 1983.
