Faculty Member Jennifer Adair Honored with Outstanding Book Award

The College of Education would like to recognize and congratulate Jennifer Adair, Ph.D., associate professor in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction, and her co-author Kiyomi Sánchez-Suzuki Colegrove, Ph.D., assistant professor of bilingual/bicultural education at Texas State University, for their book being selected as the Council on Anthropology and Education’s (CAE) Outstanding Book Award recipient.

Their book, Segregation by Experience: Agency, Racism, and Learning in the Early Grades, was chosen by a selection committee for the 2021 award. The CAE Outstanding Book Award recognizes new, critical, and cutting-edge books that make a significant contribution to the anthropology of education. The mission of the Council on Anthropology and Education is to advance anti-oppressive, socially equitable, and racially just solutions to educational problems through research using anthropological perspectives, theories, methods, and findings.
