The College of Education is pleased to announce the release of Making Black Lives Matter: Confronting Anti-Black Racism, edited by Kevin Cokley, Ph.D., distinguished teaching professor in the Department of Educational Psychology and the Department of African and African Diaspora Studies, and department chair for the Department of Educational Psychology.
Making Black Lives Matter convenes the voices of 38 contributors that reflect diverse perspectives from the Black community on the topics of activism, public policy, community and student experiences. Several members of the Black Studies community contributed to it, including Institute for Urban Policy Research & Analysis (IUPRA) staff, as well as undergraduate student leaders. The book includes diverse voices and personal narratives of primarily Black people with different lived experiences, academic credentials and social statuses. It focuses on the ways that anti-Black racism manifests and how it has been confronted across various domains of Black life.
