The College of Education is pleased to announce that Grace MyHyun Kim, Ph.D., assistant professor in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction, has been awarded a research grant to examine race and representation in high school students’ library book choices. The research project will commence in January 2022.
This award, from the Spencer Foundation’s Small Research Grants Program, will help further the understanding of adolescent literacy experiences within secondary schools.
The $50,000 dollar grant will be instrumental for research on diverse books, school library collections, and student reading interests. The goal of the Spencer Foundation’s Small Research Grants Program is to support rigorous, intellectually ambitious and technically sound research that is relevant to the most pressing questions and compelling opportunities in education.
