Two ELP Professors Appointed Associate Editors of AERJ

University of Texas at Austin Associate Professor Rebecca Callahan and Assistant Professor Huriya Jabbar of the Department of Educational Leadership and Policy at the College of Education have been appointed associate editors of the American Educational Research Journal (AERJ). AERJ is one of the top peer-reviewed journals in the field, and the appointments represent a significant recognition of Callahan and Jabbar as consummate scholars in education.

Says Dean Charles Martinez Jr., “We are so proud of this accomplishment. It is very rare for two from the same college to be selected and speaks to the significance and exemplary quality of their research, and to their national leadership in the field.”

The American Educational Research Journal is the flagship journal of the 25,000+ AERA professional association. Associate editors initiate selection of peer reviewers, engage with reviewers and the senior editor in substantial correspondence, and follow-up to secure expert reviews. They synthesize review feedback for authors and make a recommendation for manuscript determination.

Callahan and Jabbar were selected for their high visibility, experience, and demonstrated engagement in the educational sciences.
