Mary Steinhardt, professor in the Department of Kinesiology and Health Education (KHE), has been named a fellow of the American Academy of Health Behavior. The academy serves as the research home for health behavior scholars and researchers primarily focused on a commitment to excellence in research and its application to improve public health. Steinhardt’s research focuses on how individuals successfully adapt to stress and build health resilience. Her current projects include an NIH grant to study promoting resilience-based diabetes self-management programs for African Americans, reducing teacher burnout among public school teachers, and enhancing the resilience of military soldiers and their families.
